Chronology of cameras Mendel G
It does not seem that Georges Mendel, patented builder S.G.D.G. At 22, boulevard Saint Denis in Paris, has something to do with Charles Mendel, also a builder, but at 118 and 118 bis, rue d'Assas, in Paris, and especially important for his multiple editions in the photographic world.
This fairly standard 9 x 12cm format detective camera has a simple unmarked lens, a shutter with seven speeds numbered 1 to 7 by spring tension. The diaphragm has five positions from 1 to 5. There is a selector P and I, (time and instant) and a double exposure by a lock on the trigger. A large plate counter at the top is automatically actuated when the plates are moved.
This model with two optical viewfinder is equipped with two Congress type tripod threads.
